Lonely Planet launched a photo contest through BeeLiked to celebrate the launch of Lonely Planet's "Beautiful World" book. Lonely Planet invited its audience of 1m+ followers to enter their best shots capturing our beautiful world under the following four categories: Celebration, Community, Untamed and Space. The prize is a once-in-a-lifetime photography tour with Richard I'Anson!

For category finalists, two judges will review all eligible entries and judge them based on creativity and best representation of the category theme, however, whichever photograph receives the most votes from the public will also be chosen as a finalist.

About this Campaign

The Wotif Wanderlust Photo Contest is part of a rolling monthly photo competition; each month with a new theme. Users are asked to submit a holiday photo including the tag #winwithwotif. The image opposite shows photo entries from the 'Holiday landmark' theme. Using BeeLiked, Wotif are able to pull in photos that include the #winwithwotif tag from all the major social networks, as well as enable users to connect to their Facebook or Instagram albums. With voting enabled, users can encourage their friends to vote for their entry, and increase their chances of winning a prize.

Campaign Results

Wotif's design team had a huge amount of fun creating colourful designs for the microsites, each month conjuring up new background images to reflect the theme. This has clearly delighted their customers with 2865 photos already submitted and a total social reach of over 1.4 million - it's pretty impressive stuff.

About this Campaign

South African Airways launched their photo competition ‘Capture South Africa’ in July 2013, which was advertised at check-in desks and through social media sites. The campaign asked fans to share the beauty of South Africa, through the categories 'people' and 'landscape'. .

The votes decided the top 10 and the best two photos were chosen by SAA to win a pair of tickets on South African Airways between the UK and South Africa! Data capture and user generated content were the main motivators for SAA to run the campaign and they were delighted by its outcome.

Campaign Results

The campaign was a resounding success with 2403 photos entered directly via the microsite and a massive 4538 votes to create the short-list. The microsite attracted a huge amount of traffic with over 36,000 visitors over four months and 12,000 page likes. Some of the photos submitted were so fantastic, SAA decided to publish them in their own in-flight magazine.
